Marketing has been suffering from the same thing for what seems like centuries. A lack of measuring and visibility. This usually leads to cuts toward marketing because of its lack tangibility and difficulty perceiving the benefits. Organizations seem to have their horse blinders on when it comes to understanding successful marketing.

Bottom line, companies want sales. Marketing creates leads for sales. Both marketing and sales want the credit. This is part of the dismal system currently in place.
