What Generation Are You Based On Your Email Writing Samples?

Your Age Based On Your Email Habits

Based on hundreds of factors in emails, we created a tool that estimates your age based on the words you decide to use when communicating via email. Just pop your email into the text box below, hit analyze, and see whether you sound like a baby boomer, a member of Gen Z or something in between!

Email is a staple of business communication. However, with only a screen and text between you and your recipient, your tone has to be precise and professional. But, while necessary for business, this tone might not always correspond with your true personality. Often times, the word choice and format of an email falls within stereotypes of different ages. How you say hello or what you include in a signature can provide clues to the age of the email’s writer, especially when you’ve never met them before.

Based on both our own personal experiences and a few articles that include recommendations about business communication, our team collaborated to build out a list of hundreds of phrases that we see commonly in emails. We assigned estimated ages based on formality, slang, and our own personal correspondence.
