A Podcast Debate
There’s a business analytics tool called Databox and they have a podcast called “Ground Up”. I’ve been following their Director of Marketing, John Bonini, on LinkedIn (you should follow him) for a few months. I’ve been way impressed by the content he shares: bite-sized reports, feedback from industry experts and engaging questions. In one of my favorite posts from him, he asked who would be interested in a podcast debate where industry experts join together to discuss the validity of common marketing best practices.
I was so honored, excited and, also nervous when he asked me to participate in the first episode! I rambled a bit, swore and got philosophical, but hey, it wouldn’t be a conversation with me if those things didn’t happen. You can go listen and subscribe to their wonderful content here: https://databox.com/lead-forms-vs-chatbots
Major shoutout to my other debaters: John McTigue, Fractional CMO/Trouble-Maker and Pete Caputa, CEO at Databox.
Side Note: It’s a podcast, so you can’t see us. But we didn’t look anything like the stock images of “debate” I found.

It was fun for me as well, and also somewhat cathartic. I believe we are on a quest to make life better for the world, without necessarily getting rid of all marketers. All drama aside, it was great meeting you in the “forum”, so to speak, and I hope we can do it again on another topic that will make conventional marketers cringe. Best, John McTigue
Absolutely! Let’s do it.
