Digital marketing has screamed to the forefront of most everyone’s marketing efforts. Everyone wants to hire top digital marketers, but where can you find them?
This episode of the Marketing Evangelist Network showcases Linda West, Director of Digital Marketing at Act-On. Linda breaks down some digital marketing best practices and what outcomes companies can expect.
West also shares where to find top talent in the industry and what skill-sets are ideal for the digital marketing field. According to her, it’s hard to find specialists due to the nature of the job.
Linda personally believes that personality and drive are often more important than skills when it comes to lower- or mid-level employees. That doesn’t necessarily carry over to higher-level employees, where specific skills are desired off the bat.
From there, the topic switched over to everyone’s favorite hot topic: content marketing. Companies are increasingly adopting a publisher mindset and creating great educational content for marketers to read. They continue onto how to build a skill set and a personal brand. To West, one absolutely necessary skill for content marketing is a natural ability for writing.
On a final note, Linda and Justin address how much of their user-base looks at them for guidance. They believe they need to be the experts to show them what to do. Being the best of the best, basically. Companies need to be the example to the customer. Find where the smart people are. Engage with them. Build your own employee through the best practices by learning from thought leaders of different ideologies. It’s important to create that ideal customer profile. For more, watch the video above.
